Trial Databases: ProQuest/CSA

Through the end of October, the library has access to free trials of dozens of ProQuest databases. Selections include “20th-Century Drama,” “African Writers Series,” “Civil War Collection,” “Historical Newspapers: San Francisco Chronicle,” “Communication Abstracts,” “GenderWatch,” and many more.  Visit our trial page for the link.

“Pacific Reads” Book Display Launched

Begun this fall, the “Pacific Reads” book display is an ongoing exhibit that will regularly highlight a member of the campus community and a book of significance to that person.

President Don DeRosa is our first Pacific Reads feature!

Stop by the display, in the Library’s main lobby area, to find out why he recommends Team of Rivals, by Doris Kearns Goodwin, to friends and colleagues!

Latino Heritage Month Book Display!

Our first Library book display of the semester celebrates Latino Heritage Month, and features works in English and Spanish by and about Latinos, including books about Colombia (Former Colombian President César Gaviria on-campus 10/6!), as well as works by Junot Díaz, Isabel Allende, Rodolfo Acuña, Julia Alvarez, RigobertaMenchú (this recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize will speak on campus 10/21!), Gabriel García Márquez, Adelaida Del Castillo, David Abalos, Alma Garcia and many others…For a full listing and further info., please see our LibraryThing page.These books **can** be checked out!Stop by and take a look!

Trial Database: Springer eBooks

The library is testing a new electronic resource: Springer eBooks.  The full-text books from Springer cover publication dates from 2005 through 2008, as well as book series dating back to 1997. The trial ends Friday, October 31 so be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!
