Info Commons Survey Winner!

Friday, March 21st, 2008

More than 150 students, faculty, and staff filled out the Information Commons Survey last month and entered themselves into the drawing for a 2 GB iPod Shuffle.

The library is pleased to announce the winner of that drawing: Natalia Tomaszewska!

Natalia is a junior, a Sport Sciences major, an outside hitter on the Pacific women’s volleyball team, and a fan of the purple Shuffle. “It’s the first time I’ve ever won anything!” she said as she received her prize from Fred Gertler, Interim Dean of the Library.

Congratulations, Natalia, and thanks for helping out!

Trivia Bee 2008 Photos

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Once again the library sent a team into the cutthroat trenches of the Stockton Library and Literacy Foundation’s annual trivia bee.  Fortified with an Italian meal and cheered on by members of the library staff and library associates, our team placed somewhere in the top tier.

Pictures of all the blood, sweat, and tears are available at the library’s Flickr page:

Literary Cuisine Registration Open

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Registration for the Maltese Falcon Literary Cuisine - scheduled for March 20, from Noon-1, in the Regents Dining Room - is now open. You can register at the Bon Appetit dining services web site (http://www.cafebonappetit.com/pacific/) and then click on the “Literary Cuisine” tab.

The cost will be $10.00.

Payment is through PacificCash - if you don’t already have some money on your account, it is easy to add some at the PacificCard web site.

In addition, there will be two free showings of the movie of The Maltese Falcon; one is the 1931 version; the other, the more famous and well-known 1941 version. These are both FREE!

  • March 30, 2008, 2:00pm - Pacific Theatre: A showing of the FIRST movie version The Maltese Falcon. Made in 1931, it suffers in comparison to the 1941 version, but it is still interesting in its own right. http://imdb.com/title/tt0022111/
  • April 27, 2008, 2:00pm - Pacific Theatre: A showing of the classic 1941 version of The Maltese Falcon. http://imdb.com/title/tt0033870/

Hope to see you on the 20th for what should be a very fun event!
