the Pacific Library?
A new permanent exhibit about the life of Sanji Muto is now in the Muto Study Room in the library. Muto came to the University of the Pacific in 1885 to study English and the American method of business and education. When he returned to Japan, he became one of the most successful businessmen of the 20th century. He returned to Pacific in 1919 and established a book fund. His family reestablished the book fund in 2004 and dedicated the study room in 2006. Muto was also an artist and art collector. The exhibit includes two of his works.
