I want to share with you the exciting news that our Leisure Reading on the Go program has been selected as an Effective Practice by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and will soon appear on their Effective Practices web site. I’ll provide the link as soon as it is live.

The idea came out of a lunch conversation I had with Edith Sparks and Douglas Tedards, two members of the teaching faculty, about the absence of reading materials in The Summit Cafe. But it was thanks to Gail Stovall and her excellent circulation team that this idea became a reality - thank you!

This is a wonderful honor for Pacific and for the University Library.

The University Library fully supports this summer’s Stockton Reading Challenge to promote literacy. We invite faculty, staff and students and their friends and families to pick up a book, magazine or newspaper and read and log the number of items read by September 22, 2007.
